More Police = more crime? Might discover that as police activity increases apparent crime increases with minor non-victim crime the focus. More police means forcing more people into the profitable criminal justice system and forever destroying many lives. Eric Garner is dead because police had nothing better to do than harass Garner for selling illegal untaxed cigarettes, or was it that he had broken up a fight, or was it he was just black. Over 3000 people serving life without parole for nonviolent offenses. Draconian drug and immigration wars have created nearly 60% of Federal prisoners while only 8% are in prison for violent crimes. Since Congress created mandatory minimum sentences for drug crimes in the 1980s, the federal prison population has grown from 24,000 prisoners to over 214,000 prisoners. The United States has more people behind bars – 2.3 million – than any other country in the world. Over 2.7 million children have a parent behind bars in the U.S. More police = more non-violent prisoners = ruined lives = higher taxes ($30K to house each prisoner) = profits for the prison industrial complex.
