More REPRIEVE to UHURU KENYATTA’s ICC case - urged to choose the trial venue - Hague or ARUSHA Tuesday July 30, 2013 - President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday received a big reprieve in his case at the International Criminal Court (ICC) after the ICC court, directed his lawyers to file a submission on where the court will sit for trial. Trial Chamber V (b) asked Kenyatta’s defence team to file a submission, not later than August 13 on whether the opening of trial or another appropriate portion of case shall be held in Kenya or Tanzania. “The chamber directs the prosecution , Kenyatta’s defence, the common legal representative for victims and the registry to file no later than 13 August 2013, observations on the propriety of the chamber considering the matter of the place for trial on its own as well as the issue whether the opening of trial and /or another appropriate portion of trial shall be held in Kenya or Tanzania ,” read a statement signed by case presiding judge Kuniko Ozaki. President Uhuru’s trial commences on November 12.
