More Wedding Guests = Happier Marriage? New Study says ‘Yes’. (WGGB) — The bigger the wedding guest list, the better the marriage. That’s according to a new study. Researchers at the University of Denver and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville found that less than a third of the couples who had 50 people or less at their weddings reported a “higher marital quality.” The percentage of quality rose accordingly to the number of people at their big event. Not everyone is saying “yes” to the findings, though. Psychologist John Gottman from the University of Washington, who has studied marital stability for nearly half-a-century, refutes the claim. He says that trust trumps all. Nearly 13-hundred people were involved in the survey.
