More about Screw Worms - good news for Canada..... it is a reportable disease in the States. Quote - `` Screw worm introduction isn’t a major concern in Canada because the worms are very susceptible to cold weather. We could import an infected animal and that would be a concern to the importer who had to deal with treatment, but it’s not like some diseases where we have concerns about imported dogs spreading something new to our dog population. I would not allow a knowingly infected animal to fly because it can be a nasty disease and stress of transportation won’t help. They also typically have open wounds, which could become infected with other things during transit and from the stress of shipping. I would basically just exclude any animal with a skin lesion or open wound, which is a good standard practice since you only want to fly healthy animals.``
