More and more I feel like we are out of step with the Cool Christian Approach. It seems like deep, lingering worship has gone the way of land lines and the telegraph. It is more socially acceptable for everybody to give an obligatory hand clap of applause at the end of a song, rather than letting the tears flow, lifting their hands, or using their voices to call out praises and words of sincere adoration. After all, it might be a little risky to become emotionally intimate with the Savior of our soul. While the first and foremost mission of the modern, emergent church is to establish a calculated disconnect and distraction from the things that matter the most, our faithful God stands patiently, desiring our love and adoration, yet sorrowing over our delusion and apathetic diversion of a flesh so satisfied by its own manipulated pretense of a man made less than what it could be. Nothing can replace God-ordained, anointed, powerful worship... Everything else is a counterfeit...a placebo... A Lie from satan... God help us. I need an altar.
