More and more original sources are being digitised by libraries - TopicsExpress

More and more original sources are being digitised by libraries and archives all over the world. Theres nothing to compare with seeing historical items first-hand but the Internet provides a wonderful window onto things that we might otherwise never be able to view. The Herbarium of the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew has made digital images of their collections available online for years but Ive just noticed that theyve created a much simpler search app. If youd like to see some of Georgianas specimens go to apps.kew.org/herbcat/navigator.do Click the button for Collector then type Molloy into the search box. Youll get a 2 page list, most of which were collected by G. Molloy / Mrs. Molloy. Some are also Type specimens. Click the camera icon to view the photograph. My favourites are Burchardia multiflora and Tribonanthes australis, because they reveal the skill she used to display their tiny petals. What do you think?
