More and more police departments are looking at body cameras as a way to capture what happens on the patrol beat. “It’s an accountability thing, said Charleston Capt. Ted Malone. The officers know they’re being recorded and the public knows they’re being recorded, so everyone modifies their behavior. “More times than not, it’s going to protect the officer and be an advantage for the officer if there’s an issue. Everyone will be able to see what happened and (the officer’s) response to it.”
