More career information for CSAT students: https://myinterfase/radford/employer/ studentclearinghouse.org/about/careers/ The National Student Clearinghouse is seeking multiple second or third year undergraduate students for full-time paid internships (35 hours a week). While the position is scheduled from May 27 – July 31, 2014, there is the possibility for the position to continue part-time during the school year. The summer intern will work closely with Clearinghouse management on projects. Each intern will be assigned to a department based upon their field of study. The following is a list of learning objectives for the internships: * IT – Application Production Support (CCM): Learn basic scripting languages, such as shell and SQL scripting, as well as get exposed to the ITIL process framework and its significance in the development and operations life cycle. * IT – Application Development – Data Exchange & Transcript Services: Gain practical experience in applying programming language skills and methodology to contribute to development of applications to be used in a commercial setting, and observe the process involved in developing, communicating, and deploying IT applications for commercial use. * IT – Application Development – Verification Services: Enhance java/HTML skills, learn how to get a project from beginning to implementation, and adapt to an agile methodology environment and the importance of testing throughout the project lifecycle. * IT – Information Security: Gain the experience of being part of an information security organization in transition - developing, implementing and maturing ISO/IEC 27000 industry best practices. * IT – Service Center: Apply IT technical knowledge of Desktop computing systems in a real world business situation. * IT – Software Quality Assurance: Learn how various software testing methodologies are utilized within NSC’s Software Development Lifecycle. * Legal – Law Clerk* (Tier 2): Build familiarity with the type and pace of work of an in-house legal department and build confidence in interacting with counterparties and building persuasive arguments for presentation to colleagues. * Client Services: Assess and respond to client and customer inquiries within company guidelines and in a way that meets or exceeds their expectations. * Commercial Business: Gain hands-on experience with key tools used in business strategy and analysis. * Higher Education Development: Gain exposure to the higher education sales strategy and the typical tasks that are required to sell our services, understand competitors, and track performance to goals.
