More doubts over Musona return Knowledge Musona’s return to Kaizer Chiefs is no longer cast in stone following revelations that the Zimbabwean striker is prioritising continuing his career in Europe. KickOff has gathered that a return to South Africa is standing at the bottom of the strikers priorities. Musona had appeared definite for a return to Chiefs – despite the fact that there is also very strong interest from another big club in the PSL – but he is apparently dragging his feet in making a return to Naturena having already told some of his close friends about his desire to stay in Europe. Chiefs have been in regular contact with his German club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, insisting they will provide the best environment for the player to return from injury considering that he last played a competitive match in April due to an ankle problem he initially picked up at the end of March in a CAF Champions League match against AS Vita. However, just as much as Hoffenheim are keen on cashing in, they also want the 24-year-old to head out to a destination of his choice – which at the moment remains Europe. If it is another loan move then it is better off for Hoffenheim to move him to another club on the same continent for the sake of the player’s progress. Chiefs are keen for another loan deal. Hoffenheim are prioritising doing a deal with a club that Musona prefers and with news of that coming out, several agents are pressing hard to get him a club in Europe. One camp – known to KickOff – is working on taking him to Belgium. Another – also known to this website – is pushing for him to move to a second-tier German club, while other options being pursued are in the Netherlands. A move to the lower divisions in England has been thrown out due to the difficulties that Musona will have in securing a work permit due to Zimbabwe’s lowly status on the FIFA rankings. The club in Belgium is keen to take him on board but they will definitely not pay Hoffenheim’s asking price for a permanent move and there are even doubts that they will better Chiefs’ offer for a loan deal. Musona will not have any issues with moving to Belgium – who share a border with Germany – but the financial terms of the move are complicating matters. Two other European clubs – one of them believed to be in Switzerland – are believed to have made contact with his parent club but are not keen to pay anything better than what Chiefs have offered as they are sceptical about Musona’s fitness and the fact that he struggled for two years in Germany, so there are no guarantees he will make an immediate impact. In the meantime, Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter appears to be suddenly not sure about Musona’s return despite having been confident that the ‘Knodgy’ would be returning just over a week ago. Baxter also admits he hasn’t spoken to Musona – who wasn’t even so keen to return on loan to Chiefs last year – throughout the whole episode of trying to bring him back. “Well, l would love to say I know exactly what is happening but there are so many dynamics that it would be better if I didn’t make a definite comment,” Baxter tells KickOff. “I don’t think it is done. I thought it was now closer than it actually is. I think there has probably been a protest about some of the conditions because it is harsh that Knowledge is not already here training with us. “There is also the question whether the club thinks it is still the right thing to do given the fact there are so many different dynamics like that Knowledge has been injured, etc, etc. “I think you better ask the club about that one. I haven’t spoken to Knowledge at all. Knowledge has been in Germany and has not contacted me and has just been talking to the club.” . . . #FF Pelo....
