More early Randy Newman television work... 1967-1969 Great video here!" youtube/watch?v=cmXKx3H-hgY Randy co-wrote this amazing SALLY BABY song with a fellow named James Miller called, as "performed" by this band called Pearly Gate/s (Decca Records?... somebody help me with this...real band or made up band?) for this October 25, 1968, episode of Judd For The Defense, called "The Sound of a Plastic Ax". This was a Twentieth Century-Fox Television show you could watch, and my mom and I did watch, on ABC TV, Fridays at 10:00 pm. Randy wrote some music/cues for several episodes, including: "Commitment", from November 3, 1967, "A Swim With Sharks" from December 13, 1968, "The Sound of the Plastic Ax", and the, "Between The Dark and the Daylight" episode from January 31, 1969. SALLY BABY may inb fact be the only "song" he wrote for the show, but you can look for some of these old episodes of Judd For The Defense, and grow some old Randy Newman television music in your ear. But you really have to see this adaptation of SALLY BABY from Judd For The Defense! Do it now.
