More home video footage of the annual picnic at Monarch. In going through many hours of the old 8mm home movies I was amazed to find that my aunty Eleanor (Dorigatti) was the original dash cam, long before the advent of the Go-Pro dash cam. I see hours and hours of footage of their drives through out Canada and the US. It was very boring to watch, especially without any audio, until I started imagining what the verbal interaction between Lloyd and Eleanor would have been. I dont know how the heck she held that camera up for so long but I know Lloyd would have been telling her to put it down and enjoy the scenery! His oft repeated holiday refrain of Eleanor, just take the damn picture already after having everyone hold a pose for what seemed like forever while she tried to take the ever elusive perfect shot still brings a smile to me. Or, For Pete sakes put that damn thing down already; Film? I thought you picked up the film!; Wheres the spare batteries? I also enjoyed Sunday nights at their place when Lloyd would head up to the attic to get the projector, screen, and power cords so we could watch home movies and enjoy Babas home made caramel popcorn. On occasion a break in the film would occur and he would head back up to the attic to get the splicing machine to do a repair while we all waited patiently and gorged on more caramel corn. Uncle Lloyd would mutter under his breath while doing the repair with Eleanor closely monitoring his language. Upon completion there would be a resounding Hooray and the viewing would resume. Good times indeed!
