More legislative news: progress in reining in wage theft! The Oregon senate today voted to enact HB 2977B, which will make it harder for unscrupulous construction labor contractors to cheat workers out of the wages they’ve earned. The bill now goes to the Governor for signature. This constitutes an important step in the broader effort to ensure that all Oregon’s workers get paid in full for their labor. Congrats to our partners on the Oregon Coalition to Stop Wage Theft, to the legislative sponsors, and especially to the workers who have had the courage to come forward and talk about the problem of wage theft.
