More likely the niches most associated with Geniuses are those which most favor not working in a team, and for which a Savant can thrive. Autism is pretty much a precursor to being a Savant, and it is much rarer in women than men. Often being able to solve a hugely rational, logical, problem that requires a deep understanding of patterns requires that you use one hemisphere of your brain much more than a normal person does. From a pure genetics standpoint women are designed to have a more balanced usage of the two sides of their brain, and so for disciplines where this works against you they are at a disadvantage. Elephants are much more equipped to move trees, than they are to run Mazes. That doesnt mean that Mice are smarter than elephants, just that they are better built for the singular task of running mazes. Different but equal has a negative context because of the race segregation laws that fought it for bathrooms and bus seats, but until men can have babies, and women are routinely 6 foot tall we have to accept that the two genders are specialized.
