More modern convenience at hand? We might just lean on Katahdin Air Service to hop some of our gear from Umbazooksus to Chamberlain decreasing our load and in so doing reduce the number of times we have to make the Mud Pond Carry. Cheating, perhaps, but Thoreau himself filled the role of reporter, and we will travel with many. I would trade the plane for a chance to travel light with a birch bark canoe and the freedom to hunt instead of carry my dinner, but that is not to be! #150Thoreau
