More on Spotify. Daniel Ek keeps talking about how hes in it to protect the artists from piracy and its all about the artist, but the membership of his board says otherwise. Its all about ad revenue and maximizing a return for the investors, and btw they are about to go public. Theres nothing wrong with being profitable, but at least be honest. Take a look at who hes got on his board. The Spotify board is just filled with real music lovers: Dr. Klaus Hommels, Ph.D. serves as Managing Director of Hommels Holding GmbH and Klaus Hommels Capital GmbH. He was a Venture Partner of Balderton Capital. He was a Investment Partner at Springstar GmbH. Dr. Hommels has a successful investment track record in European technology and media companies including QXL/Tradus, Skype, Midas Player (king), Facebook, Spotify, StarDoll, and OpenBC. He began his career at Deutsche Bank AG. Earlier in his career, he joined Time Warner Inc. in 1995 and spent several years on the Management Board and was responsible for business development, content, and advertising sales. He joined Apax Partners Worldwide LLP and eVenture Capital Partners - BV Capital as a Partner. He started his career at Bertelsmann. He joined AOL Germany in 1995. He was a Partner of Benchmark Capital. He serves as a Director of Metaversum GmbH, Whisher, Zubka Limited, clickOn, Inc., AdJug, Ltd. and Spotify Limited. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board at Global Leads Group GmbH. He served as a Director of AOL (UK) Limited and Klarna AB. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board at freenet AG (Freenet.de AG). Dr. Hommels was elected Europes “Entrepreneurial Private Investor 2006” by the three leading European education and research institutions IESE, INSEAD, and the University of St.Gallen. He is a seasoned entrepreneur and a well-respected business angel. He holds an Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a PhD degree in Finance both from University of Fribourg in Switzerland. Mr. Martin Lorentzon co-founded Spotify Limited in 2006 and serves as its Chairman. Mr. Lorentzon first struck up his partnership with Daniel Ek when Tradedoubler, Europes largest affiliate sales network (founded by Martin), acquired Daniels company Advertigo in 2006. Previously, he held senior roles at Telia, Altavista, Cell Ventures and NetStrategy. He has been a Director of TeliaSonera Aktiebolag (publ) since April 3, 2012. He has been a Director of Spotify Limited since July 2006. His responsibilities include creating and implementing strategy, budgets and goals, as well as overseeing all legal documents and annual reports. He has extensive knowledge of building companies. Mr. Lorentzon studied Economics at Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden. Peter has 15 years of global experience from finance and private equity. Before joining Spotify, Peter spent seven years leading and managing the finance function of pharmaceutical company Pharmadule. He first met Spotify co-founder Martin Lorentzen when working together at TradeDoubler, Europe’s largest affiliate sales network where he was the CFO. Prior to this Peter worked in private equity and has served as member of the board on various start-ups.
