More on the decision by the The New York Times not to publish the Charlie Hedbo cartoons: Dean Baquet, the executive editor, told the public editor that he was originally convinced the Times should publish the cartoons. He later changed his mind. “We have a standard that is long held and that serves us well: that there is a line between gratuitous insult and satire, Baquet said. Most of these are gratuitous insult.”
