More on the incomparable Ted Cruz, who now is blocking the appointment of FCC nominee Tom Wheeler, because Wheeler has not said that he would NOT enforce policy forcing political advertisers to divulge their donors. This action, in keeping with the Citizens United efforts to control the airwaves, prevents the average American from knowing WHO sponsors varying political ads (totalling BILLIONS of dollars in the 2012 campaign alone). Cruz does not WANT his supporters, or supporters of the far Right, to be known. Lest my comment be seen as biased, supporters of the Left, or of Democrats, should ALSO be able to be seen by the public for who they are. Direct news below is from Reuters... Republican Senator Ted Cruz, a conservative whose defiant stand against Obamacare helped prompt the U.S. government shutdown, has blocked the Senate from voting on the nomination of Tom Wheeler to be Federal Communications Commission chairman. The Senate was scheduled to vote on Wheeler, a Democrat and telecom industry veteran, late on Wednesday. Cruz held up the vote over questions about the FCCs power to enforce disclosures of who sponsors political television advertising.
