More police shootings occurred in north St. Louis County than other areas. St. Louis County officers shot four times as many African Americans than whites, even though African Americans make up only 25 percent of St. Louis County’s population. - KMOV Senseless police killings of Black folks is a real problem in St. Louis County. In the past two months officers have used deadly force on two young Black men -- Vonderrit Myers and Mike Brown. In the wake of these frequent, violent altercations in St. Louis County and across the nation we launched the Killed By Cops Twitter stream to shine a spotlight on the national epidemic of police violence and remember those killed by law enforcement. Many local police departments arent required to report police killings to the FBI, meaning the scale, circumstances, and disciplinary outcome of police violence remains largely unknown.
