More proof as to why to vote no....good people, yet, making statements that need to be heard clearly.... CURTMAN SUPPORTS RIGHT TO FARM AMENDMENT Posted by brad on July 30, 2014 on The Eagle 93.9 State Rep. Paul Curtman states Amendment is subject to the courts and wont help....also stating it is subject to the courts, meaning it wouldn’t offer a bullet proof shield to all farmers. Here is more proof to vote NO Another statement from MOFB.org as follows: As agriculture has changed fewer people are directly connected to farms and ranches by occupation or family These comments are correct in that they are stating what small farmers across the state of Missouri and the nation have been saying. TOO often the changes have not been for the good of the SMALL FAMILY FARMER. In these economic times and conditions we, the small family farmer, need the right and protection that the current statute has allowed us. We have the choice as to whether we want to grow antibiotic-free hogs. We have the right and the choice as to whether we want our seed to remain free from GMO. We right to be free from subsidies and regulation and the choice as to whether or not to act upon that subsidy being offered. According to the comment by Curtman, the amendment will CHANGE our constitution and leave it open to a lot of court action. Large corporations can fight the right and choice of the family farmer and without the small family farmer having any money to fight a large group with we will be subjected to the right and choice of large corporations and entities. While another article I read states that Monsanto is setting this fight out...I laugh and almost choke on my coffee...why should they step in? They have the Farm Bureau and Legislators doing the work they dont have to do. You are darn-tootin Farm Bureau when you say that the Agricultural Industry has changed. You have been a proud sponsor for years in making sure that fewer and fewer people are connected to the small farm occupation and its people. Thatis not a good thing is this current economy. More and more people are coming back to agricultural community for sustenance and they need the protection to feed their families as they see fit...not as Farm Bureau or large corporations or outside entities and legislators deem necessary. As for HSUS....we will fight their battle later....That is not a part of this amendment issue.
