More snow expected for NE March 14, 2014 - And yet more snow for parts of the NE late weekend into early next week as a complex low pressure system initially over eastern OK Sun morning (southern stream shortwave) moves east into the SE on Monday and off the outer banks MON/TUE. Meanwhile, a cold wedge of high pressure over Quebec (with origins over the NW territories) will keep cold air in place in this area thru the medium range forecast period, according to expected GFS mean 925 temps. Models are coming into better agreement on SWD surge of Canadian air associated with surface high pressure over the NE states. Sub-zero lows possible northern New England Mon morning, teens & 20′s in the NE and upper 20′s/low 30s upper mid ATL. Most of the guidance now has sfc low close enough to bring snow to parts of the NE, some even suggestiong a moderate snowfall, according to operational models & ensemble guidance. Even in the extended range outlook thru Thursday, (March 20th) upper level troughing remains fixed across SE Canada and much of the ERN CONUS, which will support below normal temps thru most of the period over mid ATL/NE. A second sfc low lifting NE from Plains into the Great Lakes region could impact regions from MN thru the NE with more snow potential once again from TUE onward. mag.ncep.noaa.gov/NCOMAGWEB/appcontroller/Image.php?image=data%2Fgfs%2F06%2Fgfs_namer_069_10m_wnd_precip.gif&model=gfs&area=namer&storm=&cycle=06¶m=10m_wnd_precip&fhr=069&group=Model+Guidance&imageSize=M&preselected_formatted_cycle_date=20140314+06+UTC&ps=model&scrollx=0&scrolly=0
