More than $500,000 in job training grants is still available for eligible businesses to help develop green job skills in their workforce. The Clean Energy On-the-Job Training (OJT) program was developed through a partnership between the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the State Department of Labor. To date, 64 businesses have been awarded more than $2.2 million to train more than 250 workers across the state. Businesses interested in applying for the program should submit an ‘Intent to Apply’ to [email protected]. Those interested in Green jobs should visit the Department of Labor’s Jobzone (jobzone.ny.gov) to research a wide range of professions and determine which is best suited towards their skills, education and experience. Anyone interested in a career in clean energy may also contact their local New York State Career Center (labor.ny.gov/career-center-locator) to find specific resources in their region. The GreenCareersNY website (greencareersny/individual.shtm) also offers various job boards with numerous training program opportunities—including certificate programs and local community college offerings.
