More than a month ago, Martha sent a letter to Michael Duke, President and CEO of Walmart to explain her predicament and get a determination from the corporate leadership about the value and future of long term employees. To date, no response has been received. A copy of the letter follows: President & CEO Mr. Michael Duke Walmart Stores, Inc 702 SW 8th St Bentonville, AR 72716 Dear Mr. Duke; My name is Martha Dillon and I have been a full time associate with Walmart since October 12, 1989. Walmart has been great to me and my family over the years and I am confident that I have been a valuable employee to Walmart in return. In August 2012, I used the Walmart system to seek a transfer to the Palm Bay Florida area since we were moving there in September 2012 from Southern New Jersey. As of the date of this letter, I am still in New Jersey while my husband and children are living in Florida. As I am sure you can imagine, this situation has been very difficult on me and my family. I am fortunate that I have family in New Jersey and was able to spend the last few months of my mom’s life with her but I still desire to be with my husband and children. I recognize that at the store level, management has to contain costs and as a corporation, controlling payroll is also a focus of concern but realistically, the corporate cost is not impacted negatively by my move to Florida and yet there is a negative personal cost to my remaining in New Jersey. I have spoken to many long-term employees who are facing and have faced the same problem and I am writing to you so I can find out what it is that Walmart wants; is Walmart, as a corporation, looking for its long time employees, like myself, to leave or are we an asset that the company wishes to keep? Although I certainly want to continue my career with Walmart until I retire, if Walmart would prefer I move on, I will seek other employment that will reunite me with my family. I await your response. Sincerely, Martha L. Dillon, Associate Store # 2841
