Whatever they called it, that day was the End. I was out for a walk with my husband Davis. The year was 2023, and it was nearly spring. The lake was defrosting from a particularly cold winter, and Davis and I were running errands downtown. There was no time for breaking news, or for anyone to explain what was happening. There was just…silence. All was quiet in a way never to be expected. The birds, people, cars, everything stopped. Even my thoughts seemed to stop. I remember looking at Davis, and him looking at me, and the way he looked at me, it was as if he was saying, “This is it”, and then we were running and didn’t stop until the next day.
