AG ANNOUNCES AMENDMENTS TO DECREE Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said any person who is holding public office including civil servants and trade unionists found taking part in political campaigns and electoral activity, will now be fined or even imprisoned. Sayed-Khaiyum said this is after two amendments were made to the Political Parties Registration Conduct, Funding and Disclosures decree. He said one of the amendments is the inclusion of an offense provision in this decree. Sayed-Khaiyum said an amendment to Section 22 of the decree now allows former Fijian citizens living abroad to make donations to any political party. However, he said this comes with a restriction.
