Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. (1 Cor. 4:2) An interesting story has been told of a rich man who wanted to help out a poor carpenter. The rich man hired the poor man to build a house on the hillside and then he went on a long journey. The carpenter said to himself, My boss is away and I can use cheap materials for the parts of the house which will not show. The house will be weak and undesirable but nobody will know except for me. When the rich man returned he said, The house is not for me: it is for you! The carpenter accepted the key in astonishment but instead of having a first class home, he now in a home that would not stand the test of time! God gives us a job, a life to build. We all must live in the house we build. If we do a shabby job, we cheat only one person...ourselves. Faithfulness is such an important part of a Christians life. In fact the text verse says that it is REQUIRED that we are faithful. Faithfulness is the key to so many important areas of our lives. (1.) Faithfulness is the key to all Relationships. From our relationship to God, to our spouse, to our children, family, friends, etc., if we are not faithful, we will soon lose those relationships. (2.) Faithfulness is the key to Holiness. The Bible clearly tells us to be holy for He is holy. Holy living is something that we do not see much today. (3.) Faithfulness is the key to Results. If you desire to be a great musician, being faithful to practice will be the greatest avenue for improvement! Good results only come to those who are faithful at the task, whatever the task may be. Lets not be like the carpenter in the story above! May all those who call Jesus Lord strive to be faithful in all areas of their lives because we are the only Bible some people will ever read...
