Morgan Out Of Running In Board Battles Posted on June 7, 2013 by billmcmurdo The latest I am hearing on the boardroom shenanigans at Ibrox is that James Easdale may be appointed to the board but Chris Morgan is now out of the running. Furthermore, Malcolm Murray is likely to depart the board but I understand that Chairman Walter Smith wants to balance this bloodletting by ousting Financial Director Brian Stockbridge. Despite this, there are still plans to have an EGM to force Murray to go sooner, along with Phil Cartwell. I am led to believe that there is no foreseeable end to the boardroom squabbles engulfing the club at this time. With season tickets to be sold and team manager Ally McCoist desperately needing a stable environment to focus on building his squad for the next campaign, this is exactly what Gers fans don’t want to hear right now. My own take on this is very simple. The board seem to have the right blend of people already, with maybe one or two not contributing much and therefore replaceable. Why can’t they just get on with the job instead of bickering? The deep-seated problem is that there still appear to be personal vendettas at the root of this and that is why it is essential for Walter and maybe Ian Harte to bang some heads together. I would love Sir Alex to come up and give the Rangers board the hair dryer treatment. It may take a person of his stature in the game to remind those in the blazers that they are messing around with something beyond precious to many thousands of bluenoses. Stewarding Rangers is a sacred trust and these men should be reminded of that. Rather than issuing stupid statements with childish ultimatums, the fan groups should be doing everything possible to convey to the board that Rangers fans will not tolerate the directors prolonging this vicious and self-destructive war. What matters now is The Rangers. Everyone concerned should put personal feelings and even loyalties aside and ask what is best for Rangers Football Club. The answer is unity and harmony. And a little bit of humility would not go amiss. If pride and prejudice could be put to one side by all involved, a workable solution stares the Rangers board in the face. Using Rangers as a vehicle for pursuing private vendettas or engaging in petty spats is not befitting to the role of Rangers director. My message to the board will be echoed by thousands of fans of fans I have no doubt: Get your finger out and get it sorted NOW. billmcmurdo.wordpress/2013/06/07/morgan-out-of-running-in-board-battles/
