Morgan State University Office of Student Activities presents the inaugural Learn. Lead. Lift. Student Leadership Conference on Monday, April 14, 2014 in the University Student Center Ballroom. “Tap Into Your Inner Power” Call for proposals Proposal submission due date: Thursday, March 27, 2014 About the conference The conference aims to equip collegiate students with the tools to cultivate the characteristics, skills and visions, leaders use to take charge and succeed. The conference will focus on leadership growth and the inner self. These focuses will aid in empowering current and aspiring student leaders to serve as positively self-aware leaders to use their talents and abilities to better lead in any capacity they choose. The “Learn, Lead, Lift” Student Leadership Conference offers two tracks to provide needed leadership tools. Participants can design their day to meet their unique needs by choosing from 10 dynamic sessions. Track 1: Leadership Growth and Development Participants will gain techniques to enhance their leadership style to lead people and projects. Students will leave inspired to accept or seek leadership as a part of their contribution to society. Track 2: Develop Your Inner Power Participants will discover the importance of diplomacy, delegation, well being, student life balance and more. Sessions The Learn. Lead. Lift. Student Leadership Conference sessions are 55 minutes in length. Sessions are required to be interactive and well- prepared. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following: Track 1: Leadership growth & development Track 2: Developing your inner power Conflict management skills Maintain your composure in every situation Ethics in leadership Strategies on creating a powerful positive image Elevator speech, tools to networking Feng Shui Culture competency School/work/life integration Managing social media in college and beyond Communicating with diplomacy Entrepreneurship Dealing with negative people Public speaking Identifying your purpose For each session submission, you will need to provide the following: ● Title ● Name of presenter(s) ● Department or Office ● Voice telephone number ● Email address ● Description ● A minimum of three learning outcomes up to 5 learning outcomes ● 3-5 keywords that highlight the essence of the session ● Session descriptions (not including learning outcomes and keywords) ● Biographical sketch should be from 100 to 200 words in length ● Audio/visual equipment needed.
