Morgans Mom reporting in from the land of NACSW K9 Nose Work - TopicsExpress

Morgans Mom reporting in from the land of NACSW K9 Nose Work Element Trials from this Sunday in Sacramento, CA.... Morgan and I had just spent 2 days competing AKC Agility Friday and Saturday, then off to 2 K9 Nose Work Trials we went on Sunday.... First was Level 1 Vehicles - Morgan is proud to announce she achieved her Title and had very fast times! :) Her Mom learned a very valuable lesson....in her excitement of achieving our last hide and therefore our Title, she dropped a treat and got a Food Fault! :( Well now we know how effects you in placement.... at 12 seconds would have been in placement #4 I believe....with food fault yep #24 or 25! Shame on me!!!! Second part of the day (both of us quite tired after our long weekend and my hip screaming in pain) off we went for her and my first Level 2 Element Container Searches. Well my dog did great, me the Handler well lets just say I fired myself on the first 2 searches! I let the time clock pressure get into my head, and didnt get Morgan to the other side of the Big Suit Case where it was (even though my head told me I needed to), and she fringed on bag next to it and I called it. MY FAULT totally!!!! :( I felt so bad! On the second search there were 3 hides, again, let time clock get into my head and didnt listen to my dog....She found 2 of 3 hides, then she found 3rd hide (yep you guessed it more than once) but didnt stick or look at me.... I should have TRUSTED the CHANGE OF BEHAVIOR and taken it!!!!! Did I? NOPE, and we ran out of time. Bad dog Mom! Shame on me. Good Dog!!!! Sigh, live and learn. Last 2 searches she found FAST. So total found and called 5 of the 7 hides (I missed 2 my fault, not my dogs)....had I had my head on straight and trusted my dog and change of behavior, well she would have titled and/or at least got 1 leg. Whoops. Live and learn! So all in all a good day. We get to go play again in the future. Morgan had fun, we played lots of tug from point vehicles to search and search to vehicles....making sure I kept her up and having fun. It rained quite a bit, but didnt damper our fun at all! Love my girl! Baby dog just turned 2 years old. I promise to be a better handler next time and not lose my mind = Okay I will try my best to be a better team mate and not let my girl down! :) Always breaks my heart when I do not hold up my end of the team in team mate! After 3 full days of 2 Agility Trials and 2 K9 Nose Work Element Trials we came home, ate, and happily passed out big time!
