Morgantown Ballet Company, under the direction of Mr. Dan Karasik, is pleased to announce auditions for the 2014-2015 Year. Morgantown Ballet Company Auditions will be held on Sunday, August 17th at 2:00 PM with a Make-Up Audition scheduled for Sunday, August 24th at 2:00 PM. Please be sure to indicate on the pre-registration form whether you plan to attend on August 17th or August 24th and whether you are auditioning for Company I, Company II, or Apprentice. To pre-register, please go to the Morgantown Dance Studio website at morgantowndance.org, and choose the link for the Morgantown Ballet Company Auditions. Pre-registration is preferred. The day of your audition, please arrive no later than 1:45 PM to review and sign your pre-registration form OR register, so you can be ready for auditions to begin at 2:00 PM. MORGANTOWN BALLET COMPANY REQUIREMENTS Dancers must be 12 years old or older at the time of the audition. COMPANY I Company I dancers are those who see themselves having continued interest in dance and performance.These dancers are allowed less absences and will be called on first for performances. These dancers may be expected to engage younger Morgantown Dance students as part of Morgantown Ballet Company’s Head StART program. Company I Class Requirements and Fees 3 ballet technique, pointe or male technique 1 modern, jazz or contemporary ballet 1 company class absence per semester $500/semester Both Company I & Company II are required to take 2 classes per week at Morgantown Dance, with Saturday company class counting as one of those classes. If a work is set en pointe and a company dancer is not enrolled in pointe class at any studio, that dancer will not be cast in that work. COMPANY II Company II dancers are those who need more time in their schedule for other extra-curricular activities or arent ready for the time commitment of Company I. These dancers are allowed one more absence and will also perform regularly. Company II Class Requirements and Fees 2 ballet technique, pointe or male technique 1 modern, jazz or contemporary ballet 2 company class absences per semester $465/semester Both Company I & Company II are required to take 2 classes per week at Morgantown Dance, with Saturday company class counting as one of those classes. If a work is set en pointe and a company dancer is not enrolled in pointe class at any studio, that dancer will not be cast in that work. APPRENTICE Apprentices are dancers who are ready to learn the choreographies and culture of the Morgantown Ballet Company. These dancers will be able to attend festivals, classes, and rehearsals at their own convenience. While performance opportunity is not to be expected as an apprentice, these dancers will be called on first as understudies. Apprentice Class Requirements and Fees 2 ballet technique, pointe or male technique 1 modern, jazz or contemporary ballet $250/Semester If a work is set en pointe and a company dancer is not enrolled in pointe class at any studio, that dancer will not be cast in that work.
