Mormon tidbit: What does Mormon mean anyway? Mormon was a person. He gathered a library of ancient prophecies and other records from a people who lived on the American continent before, during, and after the life of Christ. He abridged those records and engraved them on plates of gold. He was kind of like the Grimm brothers in a way. He also included some of his own writings. The record was buried for several hundred years and finally, its location was revealed to a man named Joseph Smith. When angry mobs heard about the plates of Mormon, they called its followers Mormons as a slander. The term was adopted though, and many people today dont realized that the church is actually called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
