Mormons are Christians. We worship God as our Heavenly Father, and - TopicsExpress

Mormons are Christians. We worship God as our Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ as our Savior. Christ is the ONLY means through which we can be cleansed of sin and gain eternal life. Nothing we do can earn us eternal life. NOTHING. Christs sacrifice made it possible. So then why are we commanded to Be ye therefore perfect (Matt 5:48)? Simple. Because if we werent commanded to be perfect, then God wouldve been setting a double standard (No unclean thing can dwell in the kingdom of God). In our current state, we are ALL unclean. We would settle with our imperfection instead of using our agency to fix our mistakes. We can eventually become perfect ONLY because of the atonement of Jesus Christ. God didnt create bums. God created godly people (the apple doesnt fall far from the tree) with the potential for perfection (after resurrection). This is just one of the misunderstandings that people have about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They say we arent Christian because we think we can earn our own salvation. Christ paid the price for our salvation and its only through Him that we can be perfected. Thats what we believe. Why else do people think we arent Christians?
