Morning All, 16 January 2015 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE STUDY The Lord has given us His Word in order for us to know with certainty what life with Him is in reality. And with our world so far from God with endless mixed ideas of Who He is, and what is His Truth in all matters. We MUST do a responsible study of the Bible, relying on the Spirit’s leading (Romans 8:14), in order to learn God’s perspective of life – His Truth! 2 Timothy 3:16-17 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. In these last days, as in all previous ages, God’s children have the absolute certainty that they are secure in the hand of Almighty God Himself. Absolute in its highest meaning. There is literally nothing, aside from themselves, that can harm the child of God without their Heavenly Father’s approval. John 10:28-30 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Fathers hand. 30 I and my Father are one. Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. This is why it is vital for every child of God to make CERTAIN that they have the Lord and the Biblical Christian Faith clear in their understanding AND DAILY LIVES. It is the Faith revealed through Scriptures that is blessed, and acknowledged by the Lord that WILL build a relationship with Him. A relationship that we are urged to know in reality for ourselves … Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Paul guides us to spiritual maturity with the following classic instruction … 1 Peter 2:1-3 1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. Our Lord’s loving goal for each child is that by His Word, and His Spirit’s vital leading, that we are guided into the reality of KNOWING complete security of heart and mind through a Biblical walk with Him … John 4:23-24 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. God’s Truth, leads to real spiritual security with the Lord … Hebrews 6:19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Brethren, we so harm our walk / life with the LORD when we neglect the careful study of God’s Word, and the development of our daily relationship with Him. The LORD guide you into a closer and closer walk with Him in these perilous last days! (The following is based on Mark Cambron’s, “Bible Doctrines”.) THEOLOGY The word “theology” comes from the Greek word theos, meaning God. Thus, theology is the doctrine of God. To begin the study of the many Bible doctrines we must begin with the Source of all things - God! We must begin with God — there is no one, nothing, before Him. The next thing we shall study is: III. THE NATURE OF GOD. 3. The Trinity of God. 1. Trinity in Personality (Continued) B. NEW TESTAMENT DISCLOSURES. (1) Baptism of Christ:- The baptism of Christ is one of the best illustrations which demonstrates the Trinity: “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:16, 17). Here there is presented the Father in heaven, the Son in the water, and the Holy Spirit descending as a dove. (2) Baptismal Formula: The Church of God in Christ Jesus has always used that formula laid down by its Founder Himself, Jesus Christ: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” (Matthew 28:19, 20). Note that the Scriptures do not say, “in the nameS of”; but, “in the name of.” One in Three; one name, but three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (3) Apostolic Benediction:- The Church has used this benediction (which was first used by the Apostle Paul by inspiration of the Holy Spirit) for the last two thousand years: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen” (2 Corinthians 13:14). (4) Other Scripture:- The following verse plainly reveals the fact of the Trinity: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” (John 14:26). 2. Unity of Being Undivided and Invisible. There is one God; He is the one and only God: “Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears” (2 Samuel 7:22); “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.” (Isaiah 43:10-11); Isaiah 44:6; Deuteronomy 6:4. God — Elohim — is a compound unity; that is, the noun, God (which is plural), is used always with a singular verb: “In the beginning God [plural] created [singular] the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1); “The LORD [singular] God [plural] of gods, the LORD [singular] God [plural] of gods, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if it be in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD [singular], (save us not this day,)” (Joshua 22:22).
