Morning Announcements Tuesday, March 18, 2014 Mrs. Sypher’s classes will report to Computer Lab 204 today. World Down Syndrome Day is Friday, March 21st. Help celebrate by wearing bold, brightly colored mismatched socks. Golf – practice is cancelled today and Wednesday. We will meet on Thursday, March 20th. Softball – practice will be at 6:30 in the gym this evening. Please arrive no later than 6:15. If you do not have a ride, email Coach Francis to let her know. Student Council – how would you like to have a say in what goes on around Brandywine? Well then, run for Student Council. You can represent your classmates, have a very influential role on policy decisions and decide on whatever events you would like to do. Pick up an Election form from Mr. Rivera in room 221, or the Student Government link on the BHS website, or from the main office. Forms are due by Wednesday, March 26th. College Visits – please remember all college/university visits need to be PRE-APPROVED by an Administrator in order to be excused absences. Forms are available in the main office. Counseling Higher Education Referral of Delaware is sponsoring “Delaware College Night ‘14” on Thursday, March 20th from 7:00-9:00pm at Hodgson Vo-Tech. Find out about admissions standards, costs and scholarship opportunities. Visit collegefair.org for more information. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is sponsoring a Spoken Word Contest for all high school students. See Ms. Steffin in the counseling office for more information. The Brandywine High School Counseling Department is offering a scholarship worth $500 to one graduating senior who will be pursuing post high school education. Each applicant will need to submit a two paragraph essay answering the following question: How has the BHS Counseling Department impacted your high school career? The deadline date for all essays is Friday, May 2nd. Flyers for the City of Wilmington’s Summer Youth Employment Program are available in the Counseling Office. Pre-registration will end on April 5th. The following college representatives will be visiting Brandywine High School in the next few weeks. If you are interested in meeting with them, you must bring your agenda book to the counseling office at least the day before the visit to obtain a pass. WednesdayMarch 19Cedar Crest College 9:30 In honor of National Nutrition Month, all students who schedule and keep their appointment with the registered dietitian in the Wellness Center will receive a free incentive as well as benefit from a one on one counseling session to learn how to gain or lose weight, perform better at their Spring sport or get ready for beach season.
