Morning Announcements – Friday, October 10, 2014 1. Thanks to all those who participated in the Walk-to-School event. It feels great to get here on foot, and it’s healthy, too. 2. Progress Reports go home today. All students will also get a form for their parents to access grades on Infinite Campus. 3. For Parents – Parent-Teacher conference flyers were sent home with students on Wednesday. Please return the form with your appointment requests or please call 667-6241 to make an appointment. Calling the school is the best way to get the appointment. Thanks. 4. There is no school on Monday due to the Columbus Day Holiday. Have a nice three-day weekend. 5. Our cross-country team displayed an incredible amount of drive and determination last night at the large school championship meet. Every runner on the team turned in fantastic races. Our depth of character was evident in the manner in which we fought for every finishing position in the race. From those who finished in the top ten to those who finished in the back of the pack we should all be proud of the intensity of your fight in such a huge, championship race. Our girls’ team was crowned champions last night, beating stiff competition from Reeds Brook and Cohen School, but ultimately winning handily by 20 points. Placing 2nd overall in the field of 121 runners was Caitlyn MacPherson. Also taking home shiny top ten medals were Kristy Berry, Bettina Bresinsky and Grace Broughton. Rounding out our group of scoring runners was Bronwyn Beardsley in 12th place. Congratulations to our girls’ champions! The boys team place a very respectable 3rd place in a tough field of runners, losing only to the excellent teams from Cohen School and Brewer while placing ahead of 7 other top quality schools. Taking home a nice medal with the top 10 finishers was Mark Berry in 9th place overall. His teammates were packed together behind him. Biruk Beardsley placed 13th, Nick Cormier placed16th, Joshua Puno-Buzzell placed 17th, Austin Kidder in 19th and Thaddeus St.Peter in 20th. Congratulations again and lets get ready for our last race of the season next Thursday. Please remember to run over the weekend. Also remember to bring your uniform on Tuesday next week for team pictures.
