Morning Coffee with James for 7/29. God’s Word says, “Do you have to be told, you fool, that faith divorced from action is futile? Was it not by his action, in offering his son Isaac upon the altar, that our father Abraham was justified? Surely you can see faith was at work in his actions, and by these actions his faith was perfected?” James 2:20-22 REB “Many times we don’t live out our faith because to do so makes us uncomfortable. We don’t really trust God to deliver good things in our lives. Instead, we see only the bad things that we ‘think’ will happen, and we shy away from doing things that ‘may’ have bad results.” “We don’t tithe because we are afraid we won’t have enough money to pay the bills. We don’t trust God to provide. We don’t tell others about our faith because we are afraid they will think we are strange or pushy. We don’t trust God to open their hearts and work a miracle in their lives. We don’t venture far outside the church walls to love and serve others because we are scared God might really change our point of view, shake up our lives. We don’t trust God to open ‘our’ hearts and work miracles in ‘our’ lives. But our faith is made complete only when it is married to our actions. The we will experience God in a way that is so rewarding and so amazing that we will be left without words to describe His goodness and power.” Father, is it possible for me to trust You as much as Abraham trusted You? I want to. I want to have the faith of Abraham, knowing that you are good, and that you always keep your promises. Help me to act on what I ‘say’ I believe. Amen. Brumbaugh, Renae. Morning Coffee with James Quote: “Faith is a living, daring confidence in God’s grace. It is so sure and certain that a man could stake his life on it a thousand times.” Martin Luther
