Morning Friends...... Proverbs 25:28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. Oh the danger of an undisciplined life......the lack of self-control makes us very vulnerable to all the enemies attacks and devices. When there is no control of self, when there is no grace crafting a spiritual hedge of protection, we are sitting ducks and vulnerable to attacks from any direction and every enemy. Discipline is a trait we tend to think of as being negative. The truth is that discipline is simply the whole hearted yes to the call of God in our lives. Simply put, discipline is obedience.....a lifetime process that establishes order and creates stability by training and controlling our behavior. Discipline is focusing and eliminating, zeroing in on what is really important in life. Discipline can only be accomplished in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. When we surrender our lives to God the Holy Spirit is set free to train and direct us toward the ways of God. The Father will not give us good habits or character. We have to choose to walk in an upright way. We have to choose the good habits over the bad and work out the salvation that God has worked in. (With fear and trembling) Proverbs 23:12 Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge. Apply means to make a commitment, to decide or choose. God empowers the obedient choices we make and begins developing self-control and discipline in every surrendered area. With each submission....with every yielding comes the spiritual growth and discipline of a maturing believer. 1 Thessalonians 4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Possess here literally means to control. If not careful, we become spoiled and indulgent Christians because we are always asking God to change or take away those weak and faulty areas of our life, rather than taking the initiative of change through self-discipline. HE WILL ONLY CHANGE WHAT WE SURRENDER TO HIM THROUGH SELF-DISCIPLINE. Blessings !!
