Morning Munchkins.Midweek already...where does the time go? Was talking to a lassie at the cash and carry this morning,and she was saying that her and a couple of her male friends went to Bennets at the weekend.Wow...theres a blast from the past.Bennets,if you dont know was Glasgows first gay club,and it used to be a standing joke.You would say to someone..bet youre going to Bennets on Saturday ya jobbie jabber. Then they started doing straight nights on a Tuesday,and we started hearing rumours that it was an amazing night with cheap booze.So one Tuesday a crowd of us went and wow...what an atmosphere.The place was mobbed,and being the 80s everyone was dressed to impress,and the music was pure disco and funk.Best of all..50p for a vodka.I can remember going there loads of times,and it was always an amazing night.One time i was standing at the bar,and this guy started talking to me,and we were talking about New Romantics,but it soon became clear that he was trying to chat me up.So i said to him sorry mate,i dont play for the other team. He turned round and said couldve fooled me.. and walked away.So im like cheeky bastard and made my way to the toilet,where i saw my reflection in the mirror,and laughed as i realised what the guy had meant.Looking back at me in the mirror was a guy with a tight leather jacket..long hair..shitloads of eyeliner..and wearing a pair of pink lace gloves.Ah well...it was the 80s after all.Good times.Be safe,and keep smiling troops!
