Morning Rounds: Joey is still doing good! His billi count (jaundice) came down to 11 and they want it now under 10 so he is almost there! They are increasing his food again to 9ml per hour continuous through his NG (feeding tube in his nose). His fluids went up a little so he is breathing kinda fast and working a little harder so they are cutting back some of his fluid intake (IV nutrition) and hoping to balance it out with his output. They kept the fluids a little high because he has been under the lights, but he may be done tanning soon if all goes well later today. There wasnt too much concern with his breathing right now. Its pretty normal considering and they know its related to fluid. They can control that. He is also getting the IV in his groin area removed today. One step at a time he is coming off of this and that! I am very excited about his progress these last few days. Last night he was put on his belly for tummy time and LOVED IT! We are hoping today might be the day for holding him. If he can come off the lights we can do it! Keep praying that he continues to move forward. We know some other babies on the unit who have had some setbacks, and we know it is very common for the little ones to take a few steps forward and then a couple back.
