Morning all - a quick update on last nights meeting. Good turnout, including the journalist Liz Day from Media Wales and LibDem Assembly Member Eluned Parrott AM who pledged her support to the objection. The consensus was that the proposed development is unreasonably out of scale with the neighbourhood. We therefore need as many individual objections sent in to Cardiff Council as possible by October 16. Another MAJOR concern is possible damage to our houses as a result of the construction work (pile driving, heavy rumbling trucks carrying materials and infill to the site). This has already happened to houses on Pomeroy St as a result of the recent construction of flats on James St, and to date, the construction company dont want to know now that they have left the site. We are already working with the affected owners, and will be undertaking a social media campaign to get the construction company in question to take remedial action. In addition, we will be making it clear to Cardiff Council that this cannot continue to happen, with residents having to suffer as a result of inconsiderate and careless construction that was sanctioned by the Council. Finally... PARKING. Its a major concern, and this planned development, along with other changes to parking in Butetown will only make the problems worse for the South Docks area. We are therefore secured a meeting with senior managers from the Councils Strategic Planning, Highways and Traffic & Transport department. It appears a parking and traffic review is planned for South Docks. We therefore want to ensure that ALL of us have a chance to have input into the scheme, and also a chance to comment on any recommendations the Council put forward. Please therefore keep checking this page and our sister Twitter account for more details. In the meantime, GET YER OBJECTIONS IN BEFORE 16 OCTOBER!!!!! Oh. And Councillor Ali turned up. The other meeting he had meant to attend was cancelled. Nice. NOW GET YER OBJECTIONS IN!!!
