Morning doggie lovers, did you know that urinary incontinence in males and females may be caused from a lumbar strain/ injury and/or over exertion (sprinting, chasing balls etc for extended time periods). It is also believed that females being spayed are being stretched on the surgical table without having sufficient padding underneath them during surgery. This puts undue stress on the lumbar area and can lead to incontinence. While there are certainly other causes including (but not limited to) oestrogen imbalance, infection, and increased output due to steroidal meds, consider having your dogs lumbar spine checked out by an animal chiropractor to assess whether this may be the cause, as well as limit excessive exercise.
