Morning everyone As Sam mentioned yesterday evening, October is - TopicsExpress

Morning everyone As Sam mentioned yesterday evening, October is already shaping up to be windier and wetter than September as the Atlantic fires up and starts to feed weather fronts over us. Today is really a repeat performance of how September has been all month for many of us, mild, mainly dry with a murky start slowly clearing to allow the sun to break through. There are some showers over N Ireland, Ireland, western Scotland and the far south/south east of England currently and these will head south eastwards through today bringing cloud and showers to west Wales, north west England and central Scotland. Itll be a mild, cloudy night as the rain band continues to head south east, weakening and becoming patchier as it goes leading to a generally cloudy start everywhere. This will brighten from the northwest as fresher air heads in, cooling things down for Scotland, N Ireland and northern England by evening, still warm in the south. Its on Thursday afternoon that the wind will really start to pick up for the Western Isles, as gales, maybe severe on exposed coasts, and some heavy rain blow in. This will gradually slide south east across Scotland, N Ireland, northern England and Ireland, with the winds losing strength as they go. At the moment it looks like the progress will stall over northern England, the borders and Ireland, where some high rain totals are possible. Ian
