Morning everyone, some sad news this morning: A jogger is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car while out running in Wirral yesterday afternoon. The man, a 43-year-old from the Spital area, was rushed to hospital following the collision with a black Mercedes E220 at the junction of Bebington Road and Spital Road. He was transferred to the Walton Neurological Centre where he is being treated for a serious head injury and police said he was in a “critical” condition last night. He remains in a critical but stable condition this morning. The man had been out running at around 4.15pm yesterday when he was struck by the car and suffered what were described as multiple injuries. The Mercedes driver stopped at the scene and is assisting the police with their enquiries. The road was closed for several hours yesterday whilst traffic collision investigators carried out examinations at the scene. Officers from the Matrix Serious Organised Crime Roads Policing Unit are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them on 0151 777 5747.
