Morning lovely Facebook friends and followers :) It’s Day 3 - TopicsExpress

Morning lovely Facebook friends and followers :) It’s Day 3 of my new journey and I’ve got to start by repeating the post that Richard Wilkins has just posted: I’m really excited about today... no reason - I just like feeling excited. You dont need a reason to have a feeling So I’m going to choose to be really excited too, it’s going to be a fantastic day :) I had a great day yesterday! Really enjoyed my trip to St Albans, had an amazing consulting session with a client who I love and I’m really excited about what they can do over the next couple of months. It was really lovely to catch up afterwards with my friends Dan and Rachel and their girls (who have grown up really fast!), who I hadn’t seen for a few years. My journey home was delayed somewhat by overhead wire problems around Watford but that didn’t matter, apart from meaning I was later to bed than hoped. So despite not getting to sleep until about 1am, I woke up feeling good and had a quicker than usual walk with Lola, who is getting super-obedient! Maybe I might start getting brave and take both dogs out soon, as I’m sure that Jess is feeling left out. I always love Wednesdays, because I travel up to Tarleton in Lancashire to see my children, Charlie and Ben, after school. We normally take Ben to his double bass lesson in Ormskirk, and then while Ben’s having his lesson (which takes an hour and a half as he also plays in the string ensemble), Charlie is really hoping that I’m going to take her have a riding lesson. This is a new idea, she already has lessons every other weekend with Insa and Sarah when she’s at my house, but she’s hoping for a few extra lessons here and there and she’s found a riding school in Ormskirk that might be suitable. We’ll see… ;) Even though it’s nearly three years since I quit my job and started travelling up to see the kids every Wednesday, I’ve been guilty of not always being present for them. Work and business has often been too much on my mind and I’ve even spent a lot of time on the phone some weeks… which isn’t exactly quality time for the children! So I’m making an extra special effort to keep all work off the radar today from when I pick them up until I drop them back off at their mum’s. It shouldn’t be difficult but it has been sometimes, so it’s time to do something about that. The best way to do this is to carry on the process of firing myself. Roger Hamilton and Michelle Clarke talk a LOT about focusing on the things that you naturally love and getting help with everything else from your team. I’ve not been good enough at that in the past and have taken WAY too much on. So I’m putting a lot of focus on attracting the right people to the team, asking for help and stopping all the activities that I’m either not great at, or that get me out of my flow. By the time I’ve finished, I’m only going to be focusing on two things: doing strategic consulting with my clients (which I really love doing), and growing the business (which as business owner, I’m the best person to do this). It’s a long process putting processes and systems in place to make this easier, and there is some pain along the way, but it’ll be worth it! I’ve been really grateful for the comments on my posts, the private messages, the amazing people who have offered their help and support, not to mention everyone who has already approached me suggesting ways that I might be able to help them. I’m sorry if I’ve not yet replied to your message, it’s been a busy few days and I need to make myself less busy so that I can reply to as many people as possible. I hope you have a wonderful day! Who or what are you going to be present for today? Make the most of it :)
