Morning thought: Parents. I was thinking this morning about how much I am truly grateful for the two individuals who brought me into this world which was a result of thousands of years of love (family tree). When I was just a small child I was taught to express this love from time to time and it all began with my kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Connelly was a grand woman. Wiser than most oracles or sages that Hollywood would attempt to portray. She began this bonfire of love with a spark classified as art. Im sure many of us remember these now artifacts. The shoebox covered in 47 Xs and Os and such catch phrases as I love yu mommie and the always classic #1 and bestesss dad evir. Typically covered in some sort of elbow macaroni and of course the half melted red candy hearts. More than likely the inside of this treasure chest had some sort of photograph of myself with some iconic figure such as the Easter Bunny or Santa. Usually encompassed within some frame that consisted of tongue depressors and/or Popsicle sticks. I truly believe that the reason our parents hold onto these gems are for the simple fact that this is a reminder to them that this symbolizes who we all truly are on the inside. It reminds them that no matter how difficult and challenging times may be with us due to confusing values, gained knowledge and experiences through time that it is all worth it. I know that my mother and father can never again feel those little arms of mine wrapped around their legs holding on for dear life inside the dark corridors of the local haunted house in October or come running when I scream at night because there is definitely something in my closet that is preventing me from a good nights rest. But, in a way...they still can. This is my shoebox to you today mom and dad. I love you more than any amount of macaroni or visual landscape through the medium of crayon and construction paper(obviously with those little lighter dots where I had spilled some of the clean brush water for watercolour) could ever express. Just a thought.
