Mornn yall........ Guess what? I hate Football......not only because its barbaric but, also because its overrated, sensationalized, commercialized and made to be a representation of The American Way. However, my primary gripe about the sport, is that...... the athletes are, and in my opinion, OVER PAID. Were it not for the fact that they receive blown out of proportion compensation for doing what they excel in, and its fun for them as well, Im sure.......then, just maybe, I wouldnt detest the sport as much as I do. I wonder at times if any of the die hard fanatics,Iever take into consideration, the American Soldiers, and how minuscule, the compensation is for their bravery in fighting wars, wars for which they have no clue as to Why, and for which theyre risking their lives. And for far too many, who have lost their lives, torn from the lives of their loved ones. I didnt know just how much that bothered me until I spent the night at a relatives house this past weekend and needed fresh clothes to put on after showering. I was given, of all things......jogging pants and a T-Shirt..... both donning, Oakland Raiders emblems. Graciousness, is what I expressed upon receiving the clean clothes to wear......and I didnt even convey my distaste of sports, nor the reason for it. But shit got real when we went over to Kaiser pharmacy to pick up a prescription. First an older gentleman complimented my apparel, for which i acknowledged with a curt smile. Shortly there after a younger woman came along......shouted out an ear splitting........WOO-HOO , followed by a Great BIG.....RAIDER NATION.... and then proceeded to raise her hand at me, suggesting that we High Five it. I HAD TO LEAVE THE SISTA HANGIN. and walked off suggesting that she.....go pay homage to a veteran, I dont like football...not ever having given her an explanation as to why I suggested such a thing. Im sure she probably didnt care as to why, which is why I didnt acknowledge her, regarding my apparel that day. Oh well!
