Mortgage Commentary & News: Mortgage bond prices are near unchanged this morning holding the small gains from yesterday afternoon. There is no data set for release this morning. The Treasury will auction $30B of 3-year notes in the afternoon. Data does not pick up until later in the week. The Treasury will auction 3/10/30-year notes and bonds starting Tuesday. Weekly jobless claims and retail sales prints Thursday and Friday brings PPI and consumer sentiment. Look for stocks to help drive trade early in the week. According to Moody’s Analytics four jobs are created for every new single-family home start. The estimate includes many indirect jobs such as work at Home Depot and furniture stores. Housing has always been an important driver for the US economy. Lets hope the start of a virtuous cycle has begun.
