Moscow, (SANA) – A source at the Russian Navy announced that the Black Sea Fleet (BSF) floating workshop PM-56 has left Sevastopol harbor on Saturday and is heading to Tartous harbor to service Russian navy vessels in the Mediterranean for six months. The source told journalists said that the workshop, which is commanded by Captain Igor Bakuradze, will provide repairs and technical support to the Russian navy vessels that reach the support point in Tartous, and that the workshop will replace the workshop PM-138 which has been operating in the Mediterranean since May. The source added that a number of counter-terrorism soldiers will be on board the workshop. The Russian vessels currently operating in the Mediterranean are the heavy nuclear missile cruiser Piotr Veliky, the missile cruiser Varyag, the destroyer Smetlivy, and the landing ships Aleksandr Shabalin, Minsk and Novosibirsk, in addition to scouting ships Priazovye and Ekvator along with other support vessels.
