Moses was told...a prophet would come..and that Prophet would be - TopicsExpress

Moses was told...a prophet would come..and that Prophet would be like Moses..except that when that Prophet came HE would be the one that people should hearken unto or listen to..no longer Moses.! Deuteronomy 18:18,19 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him 19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. Moses was told that THIS Prophet who was to come would be the one that all the people should listen to or to hearken to. That means that what Moses was told to say..would one day come to an end. No longer would what Moses was told be followed. God said when THIS Prophet comes He would be speaking on behalf of God and the people should LISTEN and do what this Prophet says. So in the future..what Moses said would become obsolete. This Prophet would be the one to listen to no longer Moses. LUKE 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Jesus IS that Prophet..but as we know Jesus is more than just a Prophet. JOHN 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. **The Law of Moses is not what Jesus spoke to people** JOHN 1:45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.. JOHN 8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. **Here Jesus doesnt call the Law of Moses MY Law..because Jesus came speaking on behalf of the Father.** JOHN 8:30,32 30 As he spake these words, many believed on him. 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. **MY WORD Jesus said. Jesus did not speak the OT Law to them or command them to follow the OT Law of Moses instead of him. Yet these people began to believe on Jesus. They were doing what Moses said they should do listen to that Prophet. JOHN 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. **Jesus doesnt say you must keep the Law of Moses and that will make you free. Jesus places himself and what HE says as the way to be set free. This is what MOSES was told and Jesus fulfilled.** JOHN 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Jesus is the son of God. We should follow Him, Moses was told about this AND wrote it down in the Law, Jesus is NOW the Prophet we listen/ hearken to..not Moses and what Moses was commanded. JOHN 8:51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. **Not keep what was told to Moses on Mt Sinai..but keep what Jesus says.**
