Moses was told to smite the rock in exodus 17. He was told to speak to it in numbers 20:1-13. Perhaps Moses wanted to appear large in their eyes (by saying, [must WE (He and Aaron) fetch water out of the rock, v10] when God actually wanted to show them how great HE was in their eyes (SPEAK to the rock B4 their eyes, v8). This shows me that we must depend on GOD EACH and EVERY step of the way. Both instances reaped water, the ppl benefited, but the latter had a consequence, v12. They lost their inheritance! Simply because they failed to sanctify God in front of the Israelites. Yall, this life is all about glorifying God. Its not about us appearing to be anything to anyone else. Everything we do must glorify God and not ourselves. Dont rely on a past anointing. He has a fresh anointing for you every step of the way. It didnt matter is the Israelites were impressed or praised Moses after that. His actions caused the greatest consequence. Lets keep our motives pure and make sure that depend on Him daily. He had a fresh anointing that a past anointing wont work for your current situation. Be blessed!
