Moseyed over to the basketball court at the neighboring middle school this morning and encountered 10 guys playing fullcourt. I shot around at a side basket until somebody left and was invited to join. I had my doubts about being able to get up and down the court, but I noticed that some of the guys were older than I, and besides, basketball etiquette dictates that if you are asked to play, you play. So I went out and quickly realized that most of the on-court dialogue was being conducted in Spanish. I wasnt even sure at first who my teammates were, but being from Indiana, basketball is my first language, and I quickly figured it out. I didnt feel I played especially well or especially poorly, and afterward, several of the guys mentioned that they get there at 7:30 every Saturday and Sunday. First 10 guys to get there play. I guess that means I wasnt completely terrible. Either that, or theyre all itching for the chance to play against me and make themselves look better. But well see how it goes.
